Welcome to the 2026 Coach/Machine Pitch Tournament of Champions for Standley Lake LL!
We have 6 teams for 2026. The format is Two Pools to Knockout, beginning the week of June 8.
Every team will play 3 games, 2 in pool play and one against the equivalent record from the other pool as the final game.
1st Place Championship Game: Winner from Pool A vs Winner from Pool B
3rd Place: Second Place from Pool A vs Second Place from Pool B
5th Place: Third Place from Pool A vs Third Place from Pool B
Pool A: Ferro, Jablonski, Johnson
Pool B: Crumrine, Griego, Iacovetta
Tiebreaker
If all teams are 1-1 after pool play, Team Quality Balance (TQB) will be calculated to determine the winner of the pool:
TBQ = ( Runs Scored / Innings Played on Offense ) - ( Runs Allowed / Innings Played on Defense)
Tournament Rules
Rules Reference: FAQ - CMP Rules
There will be only one change to the above rules for the tournament:
- A player may bat twice in an inning if the lineup turns over
Due to many players unable to participate from summer schedules, we do not want teams with smaller rosters to be punished and limited by the size of the lineup. We expect all available players to be in the lineup.
Defense
A player may play a single position only once.
Exceptions
- Catcher: Players may play multiple innings as catcher. We want to ensure that players are safe and avoid a situation of having to put a player in to play catcher that is not comfortable or prepared!
- Extra Innings: See Extra Innings below.
Umpire
Coaches will be responsible for all safe/out calls. Disputed calls that cannot be agreed upon will result in a do-over!
Extra Innings
If the game has lasted the 1 hour 30 minute duration and the game is still tied, the following Extra Innings rules shall apply:
- Defense: The one-inning rule resets as if it is the start of a new game. A player that played pitcher in the first inning may play pitcher again in the first extra inning, but if there is a second extra inning, the player cannot play pitcher again.
- Added Runner(s): In the first extra inning, a runner will be placed at second base to start the inning (the last player out from the prior inning). In the second extra inning, runners will start at both 2nd and 3rd. All subsequent innings will start with bases loaded.
- Pitches: Each batter gets 3 pitches rather than 5.
What if it's still tied and it's getting too dark to play??
Coaches shall determine if it is reasonable to continue the game the following day. If not, there shall be a hit-off:
- Each team chooses 3 batters.
- Each batter gets 1 pitch to put into play. If it's a foul ball, they get a retry.
- The team who puts the most balls in play wins.
- If tied after 3 batters, an additional batter is added until the tie is broken.
Have fun and good luck!!!!
