The rules for the CMP (Coach/Machine Pitch) division are defined in the district bylaws:

Highlights of rule changes starting May 15th:
- Outs and runs are counted!
- A strike out is recorded after 5 pitches if the ball is not put in play. If the last pitch is fouled, the batter gets another final pitch.
- Run totals are kept with a maximum of 5 runs allowed per inning.
- Batters are able to attempt to advance to second base if the hit ball lands in the outfield without touching the ground.
- An inning ends after one of the following conditions are met:
- 3 outs are recorded
- 5 runs are scored
- The entire lineup has come up to bat
FAQ
What if the machine has an errant throw? Does the batter get an extra pitch?
No. There must be a strict limit of 5 pitches per player (unless the final pitch is fouled).
Do we still use a tee?
No. The tee is no longer to be used.
What if we have 4 runs in, the bases are loaded, and the last batter hits a double? Doesn't that mean we score 6?
No. The maximum amount of runs scored per inning is 5 runs without exception.
Do players need to hit from the machine?
No. Players may choose for the coach to pitch. Coaches must pitch from the same distance (or just in front of) the machine.
Is a hit ball into the outfield in the air an automatic double?
No. The player may attempt to reach 2nd base but can be thrown (tagged) out if the defense makes the play.
What about Roemersberger 2 that has a very large infield?
Coaches use their best judgment to call a hit ball double eligible based on any other field (Ryan or Roemersberger 1). You can also draw a line behind the bases and agree on that line before the game starts.
What if I only have 8 players and the other team has 12? Can my players bat for a second time in an inning?
No. Try to get more players to the game!
